FAQs
Does a home baker need FSSAI?⌄
Yes. Any food business selling food even from home requires at minimum a Basic FSSAI Registration if turnover exceeds ₹12 lakh. Online food sellers on platforms like Swiggy and Zomato are required to have a valid FSSAI number regardless of turnover.
How long does approval take?⌄
Basic registration: 1 to 3 working days. State license: 7 to 15 working days depending on whether an inspection is required. Central license: up to 30 days.
What documents are needed?⌄
PAN, Aadhaar, passport photo, proof of business address (electricity bill or rental deed), list of food products, and for manufacturing units a site layout plan and water test report.
Can I sell on Amazon and Swiggy without FSSAI?⌄
No. Both platforms require a valid FSSAI registration or license number before activating a food seller account. We can help you get this done before you launch.
